Description

Pollinators are not merely subjects of biological research, they also fulfil essential ecological, agricultural, and economic functions. Consequently, pollinator-related data span a wide range of disciplines and domains. However, such data are frequently fragmented, incomplete, or difficult to access. Inefficient data-sharing practices, together with a lack of standardisation, interoperability, and machine-readable formats, can significantly limit the availability and usability of these data for further analysis and research. To address these challenges and facilitate the systematic collection, management, and sharing of pollinator-related data, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) supported the development of the EU Pollinator Hub (EUPH). The EUPH is a web-based, open-source software application, openly accessible at https://app.pollinatorhub.eu. It was developed to promote the standardisation and internationalisation of pollinator-related data, support compliance with the FAIR principles for scientific data management and stewardship, and enhance the interoperability, accessibility, and sharing of data across different formats and domains.
